Student Spotlight

“My name is Africa Moto. I came to the United States with my mother and little brother and sister from Uganda on August 6, 2014. I was born in the Congo and traveled to Uganda as a refugee. When I arrived in the United States, it was a very hard situation. As a refugee, it was hard to find work. I learned about Life’s Kitchen from a friend who was in the program at the time. Life’s Kitchen gave me the skills to work and the tools to find and secure a job. I had no hope at first. Life’s Kitchen gave me hope. After Life’s Kitchen, I landed work at Ten Barrel, and today, I am working full-time at Micron and planning on going to college to study computer sciences.”

“I just wanted to thank you and your students for preparing the best lunch ever–and for such a reasonable price. Everyone raved about how yummy it tasted. You have a great program and we are soooo glad we’ve found you. We will be in touch again for some of our meetings. You should all be proud of what you do every day! Thanks–from a very satisfied customer.

The great atmosphere, delicious cuisine and friendly staff make me look forward to lunch at Life’s Kitchen each week. And the great part is, I get to contribute to this much-needed program just by being a regular customer.”
