At Life's Kitchen our teaching results in success for our students, contributions to our community and growth for our program
Rest assured, our standards are high. Based on our measurements, we have a lot to be proud of. Many students at Life's Kitchen have been unsuccessful in the traditional school setting; however, with our help, students are completing their GED or finishing high school, while learning a vocation and gaining self-confidence. We have trained well over 100 students to date. And many of these students are currently working in the food service industry, while other have gone on to be productive and successful in other industries. The bottom line is, our students are transitioning into adult life with success and they are better people because of our work.
"I learned more in four months at Life's Kitchen than I've ever learned before, from knife skills to how to live on my own. I had a lot of fun, but I think my favorite part of the program was preparing food for our weekday lunches. I like being pushed to get something done with real customers. I would like to thank Chef Greg for always standing by my side while I got through this program." Robbie, 17 |
Here's what a few of our past graduates have to say:
"I've never graduated from anything before, so this was a big accomplishment. And I've got a trade! It's definitely something to look forward to."
"I'm a breakfast cook and a prep cook. I'm saving my money and honing my skills for when I get home...I miss class so much. It was one of the greatest times of my life."
"Life's Kitchen inspired me to find a job and get on with my life so I just didn’t sit at my house getting bored. I'd like to thank everyone that sponsors Life's Kitchen for making this program possible."
"Being here has shown me that I am able to succeed in a dream now that I've always wanted to do, and I think I can go farther in it too."
"I love the people at Life's Kitchen. Life's Kitchen has helped me become more responsible, get up early, and learn to go to work on time. I want to thank Ellis and Melissa for everything they did for me."
"Class taught me a lot...like how to do a better handshake. It taught me to get better at not being shy when talking to people and to have better eye contact. That helps a lot."
